Podium - Troubleshooting FAQs
Access & Adding Users
Q: How do I provide access to Podium and users in my district?
A: Users can be added by your organization's EA User Management / App Admin. Contact them to add new users to the application.
If you are an EA Admin, please look at the steps in the User Management Role Configuration page in the Guides.
Q: How long does it take for new user access to be granted ?
A: Access is available immediately after a user is added in User Management. However, users must log out and log back in for any updates to their permissions.
Filters
Q: My filter selections aren't applying to the dashboard.
A: After choosing new filter values, click the "Apply Filters" button at the bottom of the filter panel. The button turns blue when unapplied filters are pending.
If filters still aren't working:
Check that the filters apply to the chart you're viewing. For example, School Year filters don't apply to over-time charts, and District Aggregate filters only apply at the district level.
Hover over the three bars in the top right corner of any chart to view which filters affect it.
If you've applied filters correctly and still don't see changes, please submit a ticket to our Support Portal.
Q: How can I view which filters are currently applied?
A: The top of each dashboard shows your current filter selections. If one value is selected, it’s displayed; if multiple values are selected, it shows “Multiple.” This view is helpful when the filter panel is collapsed or when downloading the dashboard as a PDF.
To check which filters apply to a specific chart, hover over the three bars in the top-right corner. chart.
Q: I selected new filter values and got "No Data."
A: Filter options depend on the selections above them (cascading filters). For example, in the Average Daily Attendance dashboard, the Custom End Date depends on the Year, LEA, and School filters.
If you change one of the higher filters, update or clear the dependent filters. Common examples of dependent filters include:
Custom End Date in ADA and Chronic Absenteeism dashboards
Test Season, Assessment, Subject, and Grade in Assessment dashboards
Grading Period and Grade Type in Course dashboards
If you’ve checked your filters and still see “No Data,” verify that the data combination should exist. If you expect data but none appears, see “My data looks out-of-date or incorrect” in the Data Refresh section.
Q: How can I check which cross-filters are applied?
A: Cross-filters apply when you click a bar or cell in a visual:
Clicking a table cell filters all other charts by that value.
Clicking a bar filters by the X-axis value or the grouping variable.
Example:
In the Attendance dashboard, selecting the MLL/ELL bar filters all charts to show only MLL/ELL students.
In the Assessment dashboard, selecting the Yellow (Average) performance level filters by that performance level, not by MLL/ELL.
To view which cross-filters are active, hover over the number in the top-right of any chart or review the top of the filter sidebar
Q: "Clear All" doesn’t reset my filters.
A: "Clear All" removes all filter sections, it doesn't restore default settings. To reset after selecting "Clear All":
Select all required filters.
Click “Apply Filters.”
Alternatively, you can simply refresh the webpage to restore the default filter settings.
Q: There are filter errors while my dashboard loads
A: This is expected behavior due to a known workaround that ensures the correct default filters load per user. The errors should resolve automatically.
If they persist, please submit a ticket to our Support Portal.
Data Refresh & Most Recent Date
Q: My data looks out-of-date or incorrect. What should I do?
A: Podium updates nightly with the latest data from Stadium.
Try the following steps:
Click the three dots in the top-right corner of your dashboard and select “Refresh Dashboard.”
Check your filters — for example, most dashboards default to “Currently Enrolled” students. To see all students from the year, unselect that option and reapply filters.
If you have access to Stadium, verify the data in the Analytics database under the PROD_STAGE schema.
Confirm that the data has been published from your source system (e.g., PowerSchool).
If data exists in Stadium but not in Podium, please contact our Support Portal.
Q: What does “Most Recent Date” represent?
A: “Most Recent Date” is customized for each dashboard to show the freshness of relevant data (not the last Ed-Fi publish date). Check the expanded title of the date chart or the “About this Dashboard” section for details.
Quick reference:
Profile / Student / Section Profile: Most Recent Attendance Date
Enrollment: Most Recent Enrollment or Exit Date
ADA / Chronic Absenteeism: Most Recent Attendance Date
Behavior: Most Recent Discipline Action
Assessment: Most Recent Test Date
Courses: Most Recent Completed Grading Period
Q: What does “Number of Students” represent?
A: This shows the count of students with relevant data for that dashboard.
For example, in the Attendance dashboard, it reflects students with attendance records.
If the number seems low, remember that most dashboards default to “Currently Enrolled.” To view all students for the year, unselect that filter and reapply.
Dashboard Details
Q: Where can I find definitions for metrics and business rules?
A: Each dashboard includes an “About this Dashboard” section at the top.
This area lists:
Metric definitions
General business rules
Known limitations
Layout & Navigation
Q: How can I learn to navigate the dashboards?
A: Visit our Training & Use Cases page for walkthroughs covering layout, navigation, features, and real-world use cases (e.g., comparing school and district results or identifying students with multiple suspensions).
Q: The visuals are difficult to read on my screen
For smaller screens:
Collapse the dashboard selection panel (arrow at bottom right).
Collapse the filter panel (arrow at top right).
Adjust your browser zoom (e.g., 75%) for better visibility.
Expand any chart to full screen using the three-dot menu → “Enter Full Screen.”
Q: In full-screen mode, my chart is overlapping with the dashboard title.
A: This is a known issue. If the overlap makes content hard to read, you can:
Use the three-dot menu to view the data as a table, or
Download the visual as a PNG to view it more clearly.
