Administrative User Guide for Rally Analytics Platform

This guide covers the functionality for the platform for users different levels of data access. A broader introduction to the features and functionality that the Rally Analytics Platform offers can be found in the teacher’s guide to the platform. Please submit a ticket via our support portal with any questions. 

 

Data Access in Rally

The data access options available in the Rally Platform are outlined below and more detail related to the functionality available to each is presented in subsequent sections. 

Teacher
Users with this access are only able to view data for the classes they teach. Users are given this access automatically if they have classes in the Student Information System (SIS) where they are the primary teacher. 

School Admin 
Users with this access are only able to view data for their school. Some users can be given this access based on their staff category from the SIS (i.e., Principal). Any others that should be given school-level access should be adjusted in the User Management application.  

District Admin 
Users with this access are able to view data for the entire district. Some users can be given this access based on their staff category from the SIS (i.e., Superintendent). Any others that should be given district-level access should be adjusted in the User Management application.

 

Teacher Access

Teachers in Rally are only able to view data for the classes they teach, as designated in the SIS. The landing page for a user with Teacher access is shown in the image below.

Please make note of the following when considering Teacher access: 

  • Administrators do not need to manage data access/permissions for teachers. If the teacher has enrollments in the SIS, they should be able to see those classes and associated rosters in Rally. 

  • If a teacher’s classes or rosters look incorrect in Rally, the best approach is to correct the data directly in the SIS. These changes will then transfer automatically to Rally. 

  • The student search in the left navigation menu is limited to only those students in classes where the user is a teacher. 

 

School Admin Access

School Admins in Rally are only able to view data for their school or schools. The landing page for a user with School Admin access is shown in the image below.

Please make note of the following when considering School Admin access: 

  • Users with School Admin access are able to view classroom and student data for the entire school or schools with which they are associated. 

  • School Admins also have an additional “grade” option in the left menu, which allows the user to see grade level aggregations for their school. 

  • Any others that should be given school-level access should be adjusted in the User Management application.

District Admin access

District Admin in Rally can view data for the entire district. The landing page for a user with District Admin access is shown in the image below.

Please make note of the following when considering District Admin access: 

  • Users with District Admin access are able to view classroom and student data for the entire district. 

  • Like School Admins, District Admins have an additional “grade” option in the left menu, which allows the user to see grade level aggregations for their school. 

  • Some users can be given this access based on their staff category from the SIS (i.e., Superintendent).

  • Any others that should be given district-level access should be adjusted in the User Management application.
