Rally Teacher Guide
Teacher Guide for Rally Analytics Platform
This guide is to serve as an introduction to the features and functionality that the Rally Analytics Platform offers. While this document highlights main features, please contact submit a ticket through the platform for additional assistance.
Logging into Rally
Go to the Education Analytics Portal to login to Rally.
Use your District-specific SSO to login
After logging in, you will be redirected to the application launcher (app launcher). Please select the “Rally Analytics Platform” icon to launch the platform.
Navigation - your classes and students
Rally is connected to your district’s student information system (SIS), therefore rosters and other information related to your classroom and students will automatically populate within the platform. You will only be presented with information related to your specific classes/students unless you have been granted access as an administrative user.
Classes - your classes will be listed as tiles on the landing page or can be searched by selecting the “class” icon in the left navigation menu.
Students - You can search for a particular student by selecting the student icon in the left navigation menu and using the search box. Only students enrolled in your classes will be available to search.
The Classroom Page
The Rally classroom page provides a high-level profile of your class, while also allowing for deeper examination of class assessment performance, well-being survey responses, and behavior data.
At a Glance
The at a glance tab of the Rally classroom page summarizes your class’s data on attendance, grades, behavior, assessment performance, and well-being. Additionally, this page allows for easy access to click on individual students on the roster, and provides helpful information on included grade levels, and program participation.
Stats at a glance – this section will dynamically surface program participation data when applicable, and shows important data related to attendance, behavior, and grades.
*Note – the passing percentage graph shows the number of students passing or failing for the entire class/section, and defaults to the most recently submitted grading period.
Recent assessments – this section shows the most recent assessments for students in the classroom, including a comparison to the district average. Clicking on any of the assessments will take you to the more detailed assessments tab.
Well-being – this section will show a class summary of scores on the most recently administered well-being survey.
Assessments
The assessments tab provides a more detailed look at the assessment data, or assessment transcript for the class, allowing you to filter in numerous ways, compare to the district average, view sub-score detail, and view in a table format.
Filters are available for subject, assessment name, years, and percentage of students assessed.
Some students may be taking assessments in different grade levels, so the percentage of students assessed filter allows you to show only those assessments with significant amounts of data.
Rally intentionally only shows assessments specific to certain grade levels.
Clicking on each assessment allows you to view performance by sub-score.
Selecting the performance level allows you to compare performance percentages to the district for that threshold, as well as see the individual students represented in the score range.
The view as table option allows you to view the class’s performance on a particular assessment with individual student level detail. The table view allows you to easily filter and sort the data to quickly identify high performers, as well as those that may need more help with certain competencies.
Well-being
The well-being tab provides a deeper view of well-being survey results for the class (if administered), allowing you to easily toggle between surveys, filter on question types, and view results for individual students.
The top of the page shows a graph providing a visual representation of the class’s well-being for each section of the well-being survey.
Filters available for the results table allow you to see results for one survey section at a time or allow for the selection of individual questions of interest across sections.
Filtering and sorting on each column in the table allows you as the teacher to quickly and easily identify those individuals that may need assistance with certain aspects of their well-being.
Behavior
The classroom page’s behavior tab allows you to view behavior and incident data for the class, with the ability to easily filter on things like date range, student, and behavior type.
The view defaults to show the most recent incidents, but other helpful filtering and sorting options are available.
The log of behaviors surfaces information like the date, incident ID, how the behavior was coded, as well as the location of the behavior/incident.
The Student Page
The Rally student page offers a holistic student profile, giving teachers insight into how a student is doing overall, while also providing access to much more detailed information for more in-depth reviews of assessment, attendance, and well-being data.
At a Glance
The at a glance tab of the Rally student page summarizes the selected student’s data on attendance, grades, behavior, assessment performance, and well-being. Additionally, this page provides helpful indicators for grade level, and program participation.
Stats at a glance – this section will dynamically surface courses the student is not passing, attendance details, as well as behavioral incidents for the student. Clicking on these figures will provide more detailed information.
Recent assessments – this section shows the most recent assessments for the student, including sub-score detail. Clicking on any of the assessments will take you to the more detailed assessments tab. Subjects will only appear if there is data available for the student in the subject.
Well-being – this section will show a visual representation of the student’s well-being and responses to the survey over time.
Assessments
The assessments tab brings together very different assessments from a variety of vendors into one view, or assessment transcript for the student. It does this in a way that provides visual consistency, while still preserving the unique qualities of each assessment, like different scoring systems and thresholds.
Filters are available by subject, so teachers can focus on their content area, as well as assessment name, and academic year.
The visuals for each assessment not only show the thresholds, but also where the student’s score fell within the threshold.
Clicking on an assessment will provide a view into sub-score level detail with scoring representation that is specific to the assessment.
Performance Over Time
The performance over time tab provides a view into longitudinal assessment data for a student, on a state equivalent scale. The graph shows historical state-equivalent interim assessment scores, as well as state summative scores for ELA and Math, while also providing predictions for future performance.
Vendor linking studies and additional calibrations allow for a variety of assessments to be viewed on the same state-equivalent scale.
Note – assessments that are not able to be converted to the state scale will not show on the graph.
The graph also shows future score predictions for both interim and summative assessments, based on historical performance data. Predictions are represented as dotted lines on the graph and are updated as new assessment scores become available.
Attendance
The attendance tab and its primary calendar view provides an easy way to visually identify trends, patterns, or large blocks of time missed for a student. Additionally, you can quickly dive deeper to view school or district specific attendance codes and details that help to elaborate on the high-level attendance record for the student.
The calendar graphic shows year-to-date attendance data for the student, with icons for present days, absent days, and no school.
This view makes it easy to see that a student is consistently missing each Friday, or has missed a week in a row, for example.
Note – this graphic shows attendance for the entire school day, not section specific attendance.
Selecting more info in the absent and present key surfaces school or district specific attendance codes, providing more insight into the types of absences represented on the student’s record.
Well-being
The well-being tab provides a deeper view into well-being survey results for the student (if administered), allowing you to easily toggle between surveys, and view all responses by the individual.
The drop-down menu at the top of the screen allows you to quickly change from one survey administration to another.
Includes a visual of the overall distribution of answers by the student, categorizing answers into thresholds labeled: check-in to learn more, in-between, and assets to build on.
The entirety of the survey contents for the selected administration are displayed in one view.
Feedback
As you navigate the platform, we encourage you to share all feedback.
Each screen in Rally has a button in the footer that says, “Support.” By clicking this, you will be presented with the following screen that will allow you to submit a ticket. The form is not only for reporting issues – we encourage you to share experiences or opinions that could help us improve the platform and better fit your needs.
